Living a Legend

This article was published in Word Splash, an e-zine, in the August issue  Living a Legend When I was a child, I was never glued to the television set. Watching a full movie undoubtedly was out of the question. I was never what people may term as a movie-buff. I started watching movies much later. Though several times I tried sitting with my parents to watch a movie, I would be in my seat for only a few minutes because my boredom cells almost always compelled me to leave the room within a few minutes. The first movie that I fully watched was one of Rajesh Khanna’s. And I cried after it was over. Watching the legend cry on screen, I could not stop my  tears. My sibling and cousins laughed at me when I wept after watching the movie in the tiny television set of the 90’s. The Whiskey Lullaby

This story was published in an e-magazine Word Splash in its issue of July 2012, http://www.wordsplash.in/the-whiskey-lullaby-2/ We watched him drink his pain away, A little at a time, But he never could get drunk enough, To get her off his mind … Pain or love wasn’t the reason why Prakash was the town drunk. “It’s my passion,” he would quote while listening to the Whiskey Lullaby,” It depicts my freedom.” *   It was two years ago, in Swindon during his working years, when Prakash was first introduced to liquor. It was a call from the City Hospital, ...

The Ball

This poem was published in an e-magazine Word Splash in its issue of July 2012  http://www.wordsplash.in/the-ball/ It was also a Guest Post at   http://www.glad2bawoman.com/category/spouse/ball   Enchanted with the music charmed with the song I was in your arms in last week's Ball. The warmth of your voice and the soft breeze touched my neck and left me pleased. Aware I was not of the crowd near me Lost, I was in the dreams of thee. Vulnerable, I danced with you. Protected, by my faith in you. With your first touch I gave my heart to you. With the first move I bared my soul to you. The world seemed a myth and you seemed real. I lifted my eyes to see my worries disappear. Forgetting everything I was dancing in charm. Losing myself to your heart melting warmth. With ecstasy and love I danced and danced until you showed me the ring on my left hand. Alas, I woke up when the reality did unfold It dawned on me someone's mistress you...
