Home Remedies for Super Straight Hair :-P

Having naturally straight and long hair has its own advantage- Men often complement my hair and my female friends often ask how to make theirs straight. Now here is a easy and simple solution to make your hair straight so that it looks perfectly natural while saving you from the pains of visiting the parlour. So here goes my Gharelu Nuskha  -  We all know oil is extremely good for our hair. It protects your hair from damaging. So the next time your mother is cooking FISH , just sit beside her so that she can pour the oil that remains on the pan, on your hair. :-D. After your hair is oiled you should know that it's protected so stand in the sun for 10 hours . (Yes , TEN) Now your hair is hot and protected enough. So now you can keep an ANVIL on your hair as you sleep. Remember to spread your hair on the bed and then put the load of anvil on your hair (NOT on your HEAD). You will wake up with beautiful, strong, protected and super straight hair that will look natu...

Take Away My Love

Take away the memories with you As you leave today Take away those happy moments Take away those tears too Because I found myself today When I lost you Take away my screaming self Who wails and withers in pain Take away the pink letters Take away the smiles too Because they know it’s over And there’s nothing we can do Take away all the pieces That reminds me of you But before leaving, Darling Take away my heart too Because it can’t love anyone else now As my love for you is true Take away all the reasons That might make you to stay Take away all the regrets That didn't make me stop you Because deep within myself I know you loved me too

For Love Unrequited

For love that went wrong, I write tonight this song of stoics and emotions of hatred and devotions for the man who never kept his words for the woman who conceived each to be true for the broken promises and hopes high for the lost love and solace found for the letters unwritten and songs sung for the million tears and smiles few... for the woman who wanted to fly for the man with wings broken for the dreams shattered and heights unreached for the million places yet unseen for the vows forced and rules breached... for the man who loved with a frail heart for the woman too strong to falter for the anxieties felt and her insouciance for the feelings untold and truths confessed for the first song and their last dance for the realities that hurt and imaginations that solaced... for the woman whose courage was all she had for the man who shattered her only asset for the fears instilled by the cruel laughs for the claims of lov...

The Perfect Dress

Winter has come and Christmas is near. We all need that perfect dress that is classy yet comfortable for the icy cold weather. The trick is to keep it simple yet trendy. Online shopping is always preferable in the winters because of the comfort of sitting under the blanket with a cup of coffee on one hand and browsing through the clothes on your laptop with the other. www.shoppersstop.com has always been my favorite among the loads of other online shopping sites because of the variety of clothes and accessories it provides and the prompt delivery and cooperative customer care. Browsing through the clothes yesterday, I have chosen the perfect dress I always wanted to buy for myself. The dress that goes with all occasions, be it a party with your family and friends, or a day out, or an evening with your colleagues. Below is the dress I have assembled from Shoppers Stop:- Happy Feet à Boots http://www.shoppersstop.com/cat-Shoes-Womens-Shoes-Boots--Ankle-Boots-PEPPER---Womens-...

The Rummage

[N.B. It was written when I was in school :-P] You were my golden flower And I the thirsty bee. I was, in every hour struggling to find thee. I was in sorrow, residing in pain but I knew tomorrow I'd be revived by your rain. But seldom did I know that the battle hard fought was never to be won, I was destined to mourn. Alas, the truth was unveiled, the secret revealed, that you were never mine nor could I ever be thine. Into pieces, was I shattered, each part was in pain. My longing was battered, half-dead I remain. Consoling my broken heart that one day will favor fate, but still knows my each part that you are not worth the wait.

A Tale of Two Teardrops

Rubbing my eyes, I woke up today with a laugh, for a change; laughing at my own stupidity of falling asleep with the lights and the music player of my cell-phone on. The song “set the fire” was still playing on my mobile. It didn’t run out of battery these eight hours, strange that. The first thing I did after regaining senses was to check my pillow for wetness, just like the previous morning and the day before. No, it wasn’t wet with my tears this time. May be I didn’t cry as much as I thought I did. My familiar room looked like it always did: clothes dumped on the table, a few books on the bed, wires of the laptop and mobile chargers intertwined lying on the fall. But something was different today. It all looked a bit too perfect; as if someone deliberately kept them the way they are, emulating carelessness carefully. I shove the weird thought off my mind and headed for the bathroom attached to my room. Appalled I was when I opened the door: there was no bathroo...

The War

The lust for bloodshed, Cries and wails. Broken domes, Victory and fame, Orphaned children, Widowed women, Corpses and crippled soldiers, Defeat and shame. Athena helped connive While Ares watched lain As Keres bore on her rummage for the slain. Dragons flew over Breathing out the hot fire Horses ran in menace While the ruthless warriors Kept slaying sans penance. A realm is now demolished Another expanded A king’s head is chopped off another smiles with triumph With pride he looks At the lives lost While he prepares For his kingdom Of unwilling acolytes Frigid women dismayed orphans and an empty throne..  Read more at Taj Mahal Review Dec. 2012 Issue

If only tears could heal... Poem to be published in Minds at Work 2 by FirstStep Publishing

The Queen

She said she was a queen … of luck and fortune. Sitting on a street of Guwahati she laughed hysterically at her ill luck and misfortune. She said she was a queen … of wealth and all the riches. And she laughed at her tattered clothes and the bowl in front of her with a few coins in it. It was a fine October noon and we were on our mission of distributing clothes to the needy. After providing clothes and talking to seven or eight people living on the footpaths of Guwahati we finally met this mysterious woman sitting on the pavement near a Hanuman temple. Unlike the others she wasn’t crying, nor was she grateful when we gave her a saree. All she did was laugh at the world that passed by and pretended to ignore her. And when we were about to leave considering her to be someone who would not talk at all, she made us stay spell-bound with her  words. She told us how she was born in a well-to-do family but was made to beg on the streets, not by her parents, n...

The Past No More

At midnight, I lie on my bed, All soaked, all drenched, In the tears of the past I lay awake and contemplate I wonder and regret About the deeds of the past She sits by my side While my tears, I hide And we talk about the past We weep and we cry Until the tears go dry  Cognizing the past She pats my back As our pains slack And we learn from the past We soak no more Our ships set ashore And we leave behind the past.

Eye of the 21st Century

This article was published in Vivid Magazine on 27th Aug'12 under the category Technology.  While some theorists have suggested that we are approaching the end of this world this very year, there are a handful of theorists who have predicted about what life on earth will be like in the middle of the.... to read more click here -  Eye of the 21st Century

Living a Legend

This article was published in Word Splash, an e-zine, in the August issue  Living a Legend When I was a child, I was never glued to the television set. Watching a full movie undoubtedly was out of the question. I was never what people may term as a movie-buff. I started watching movies much later. Though several times I tried sitting with my parents to watch a movie, I would be in my seat for only a few minutes because my boredom cells almost always compelled me to leave the room within a few minutes. The first movie that I fully watched was one of Rajesh Khanna’s. And I cried after it was over. Watching the legend cry on screen, I could not stop my  tears. My sibling and cousins laughed at me when I wept after watching the movie in the tiny television set of the 90’s. When I tried wiping his tears in the television set  itself, everyone around me broke into a hysterical laughter. The film was the famous Haathi Mere Saathi , made for children with its Disney-...

The "Power" Factor

This article was published in an e-zine titled North-East Today  The Power Factor Anti-dam protestors, fleeing workers and huge monetary losses- these are the thoughts that come to our minds when we think NHPC. In the North-Eastern states of India, NHPC has been on the news, and still is, since December 2003. In December 2003, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) awarded the contract to build a gravity dam, named Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Power Project (LSHEP), on the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, in Lower Subansiri District. Several problems arose ever since for the construction of this dam, which is expected to supply a power of 2000MW. The “arun of the river” power station, as called by NHPC, is estimated to be completed by February 2014 and if completed, it will be the largest hydroelectric project in India. The hurdles that LSHEP had to face include opposition and protests, unavailability of land around site, landslides and re-design. Due to ...

Ek Tha Tiger : Review

A huge fan I am of the actor Salman Khan, but as asked by my friends for an unbiased review (i.e. assuming it was just another actor and not THE Salman Khan) here it goes: 5 stars is what I would give it just after recalling Salman's face once, but "committing" to my promise as stated above, I am giving it somewhere between 4 and 4.5 stars. Now, I know that many critics have given it 3 stars but ignoring every other review or the star's charisma I give it a 4 that goes solely to the movie. One star I have deducted because the dialogues at the very first scene did not live up-to my expectations. Nor was Salman looking his very best (I felt like he was having a cold or the likes of that).  The action scenes were not over shown or dramatic like that of Bodyguard’s (albeit it came as a nice surprise to me). But the unexpected twists and turns after the interval of the movie are what made the movie one of a kind. You would expect something to happen while the oppo...

The Crush

This entry is written for a contest of Indiblogger  http://www.indiblogger.in/getpublished/ I was just wandering on the corridors of the school after my geography class with my fellow IXth grade classmates. And there was he, crossing our aisle smiling at one of my friends. Awestruck, I took a moment to regain my consciousness. ;) Clever me, I did not waste a minute and asked my friend who was he. And within seconds I gathered as much information about him as possible. "Teddy bear" was the first word that came to my mind (and also to my lips) after recalling him once more. A silly name it was to give to a handsome and yet cute guy christened Rahul. But for the next two years he spent at our school, this became his nickname. Ovations to me :). But he was not someone who would sit quietly after learning that I gave him a nickname just after a few days of him joining class XIth. Just the day after we got introduced to each other by our mutual friend priyanka, he star...

Five + 1 Things your ophthalmologist should tell you

Five + 1 Things your ophthalmologist should tell you (while they don’t usually) Revelations of common myths about your eye It has been five long years that I am bespectacled and every time I visit my eye doctor, I come home with a disappointment. No matter how frequently or how infrequently I get my eye checked up, it always turns out that I need more powerful glasses. Being a girl I hate the fact that I have to wear specs the rest of my life. More heart rendering is the fact that instead of recovering, the ability of my eyes to see clearly is decreasing every day. ( Will I get blind one day?) I wanted to know why and ended up having an hour long chat with an eye surgeon who lives nearby my place.  After the chat I feel like never visiting my old ophthalmologist again. I hate her now. I am already suffering with eye problems but I don’t want others too. So here I am, sharing the knowledge I gained, so that you know what to ask for while getting your eye checked up. The ...

Haiku - Summer

THE YELLOW MUSTARDS, WITH SUMMER'S WARMTH, SINGING BIRDS SUNSET AND SONGS HEARD

I now pronounce you- man and wife!

If I have to narrate the story of my marriage, the entire story, well, then it might take a week or two for you to read. So making the long story short let me take you directly to its climax. It all began with a phone call; A phone call that was the root of all our differences. “so.. wanna go out tomorrow?” it was the first thing he said after I picked up his call on the landline (In those days cellular phone was a luxury for only those who were willing to pay bills for their incoming calls too). Mother was waiting nearby so I could not say anything that might seem “bad” to her prying ears. As suspicious as ever she sat by my side pretending to look at one of the fashionable fountain pens I had between my fingers. “ Yes, I was just doing the homework, it will be done by midnight.. I will hand it over to you tomorrow at college.” I answered him something totally irrelevant to what his question was. “Huh? Oh.. ok.. see ya.” He hung up. After answering...
